A Must Watch

Kevin Kelly at the Entertainment Gathering, December 2007, talks about the web's first 5000 days, and his thoughts on the next 5000 days.
Mr. Kelly details a number of fascinating statistics about the web - for example, that it currently has a processing power equivalent to the human brain, and, that by 2040 it will supersede the processing power of all of humanity. Scary, that. However, he also details 3 consequences of the web as a system: Embodiment, Re-Structuring (the architecture of the system), and our co-dependence on it. The digital and the analog will collide and merge in fascinating ways.
This led me to wonder - what about anthropomorphizing the system? What happens when all of that data, ever-present in a world that can no longer distinguish between online and offline lives, merges with the by-then defined Emotion Mark-up Language and can infer meaning as well as intent or consequence? What happens when consequences can be predicted and manipulated? What happens when this embodied system on which we are co-dependent can Google something itself?
OK, it's Friday. I need to chill out and clear my head. Enjoy the clip!
